"My only experience with State Farm and my last. When we bought our house we advised the agent we would be replacing the roof ASAP due to its age. A few weeks later we get a mysterious check. 2 weeks (yes 2 weeks) after that: an actual cancellation letter. (Edited for clarity: State Farm had cancelled our policy beginning of August when the issued the mysterious check -effective August 29th, but didn’t notify us properly with a proper letter until 2 weeks after sending that check. WE never cancelled the policy.) When we called the office we were advised we could send proof of replacement before the 29th but it would be 7-10 days before we received a response from underwriting. We sent that proof the 20th. The day our roof was replaced (the 28th) we were told they couldn’t take the contract we signed because ‘it could be fraudulent’….. or underwriting could, you know…. check the license number and call the company?!? Apparently pictures of the trailer with our literal roof repair happening was not enough either. I do not understand why anyone would think of State Farm as a good neighbor. (Edit again: I did not bother sending pictures after the 29th because State Farm had already ended our policy and we didn’t have another 7-10 days for underwriting to decide if my pictures of our new roof were good enough to satisfy their very high ‘potentially fraudulent’ criteria.)"
